Engaged in rallying, in the nineties Ford replaced the Sierra with the more compact and lighter Escort. To homologate the racing model, a series of Escort RS prepared by Cosworth was produced. Based on the 3-door sedan, the RS Cosworth got the mechanics of the Sierra Cosworth. With the large rear spoiler and the widened fenders the Escort RS was immediately recognizable. At the end of 1994 an evolution was introduced, with 7 more horses (227 against the original 220). Production ceased in 1996.
